Kylie Jenner is one of the most followed celebrities on social media. She and her family have made their living off of its many platforms as well as their reality television series Keeping Up With the Kardashians (KUWTK). They’ve opened their homes for over a decade and continue to let the public peek inside their worlds through regular social media postings. This is the way the world is — social media, instantaneous information, and the ability to access public information that should often stay private. Now that Kylie Jenner has filed a temporary restraining order on an alleged stalker, one must ask if she is giving too much access to her private life to the public.

One of the first things that law enforcement advise people is to be wary of the information they put on social media. Stalkers will scour a person’s social media pages in order to find any details they can use to gain further access to their victims.

Kylie Jenner (as well as many celebrities) regularly posts photos that could inadvertently give information to dangerous people who are seeking to harm her. For instance, a photo that Kylie Jenner shared of her daughter Stormi shows the type of door lock that she has. For the average citizen, this would go unnoticed. For someone who is actively being stalked, this is giving crucial information about her home to someone who shouldn’t have that knowledge.

Another photo of Kylie posing by her pool may seem innocent at first but when you consider that a man has allegedly tried to gain access to her neighborhood, not once, but twice, she is revealing information such as the layout of her home — including where the points of entry are located.

Take the photo below as an example. To Kylie, she is simply showing off her bikini body and even promoting her Kylie Skin sunblock, but to the person who is stalking her, the picture says much more.

Kylie Jenner has bodyguards and a top-of-the-line security system and prayerfully that will be enough to keep her safe. But it isn’t like celebrities and their security teams are fool-proof. It isn’t as if the problem is solved simply because you have enough money to ensure your protection.

Even Kylie’s own sister was held at gunpoint and robbed.

It’s time that celebrities realize that what they post on social media can not only come back to haunt them — but hurt them as well.

What do you think? Does Kylie Jenner need to stop revealing so many details about her home now that she is actively dealing with a stalking case?
