Lady Gaga's One World: Together At Home Concert Was A Huge Celebrity Buzzkill In A World That Needs Some Positive Energy, But It Raised A Ton Of Cash

Numerous A-list celebrities came together on Saturday for the two-hour primetime concert One World Together At Home – which was organized by Lady Gaga – and it was broadcast simultaneously on CBS, ABC, and NBC. But, for the fans who were tuning in for some uplifting songs and smiles about how we are all in this together, they were extremely disappointed.

Instead of musicians singing inspiring tunes and a little bit of comedy from the hosts to get a few laughs amid the global pandemic – which has put millions out of work due to government shelter-in-place orders – viewers were met with somber tunes that put everyone in a worse mood than before they watched the special.

As Johnny Oleksinski from The New York Post points out, Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello sang a duet version of the Louis Armstrong classic What A Wonderful World “surrounded by candles like a Bonnie Tyler music video.”He also noted that Taylor Swift sang her tune Soon You’ll Get Better like she was “a hospital resident scrawling out a prescription.”

It’s true – every single musician chose to sing the most saddest, obvious songs they could come up with while in their multi-million dollar homes. None of these celebrities are worried about making sure they can pay their bills or feed their family, and they seem to be doing just fine without a paycheck for the foreseeable future. But, that’s not the case for many people – not just in America, but all over the world – and the tone deaf special infuriated many people on Twitter.

Another added, “Globalist/WHO propaganda being pushed by Hollywood on #TogetherAtHome telling us stay home from their million dollar second mansions. Meanwhile millions are jobless waiting in line at food banks, family businesses shattered, Suicides up But:“Global Citizens” “One World.”

It wasn’t just the amazing homes of John Legend, Ellen DeGeneres, Taylor Swift, and Elton John that was the problem for fans, it was their luxurious accommodations paired with the dull sanctimony and narcissism, as Oleksinski pointed out.

There was no celebration of the human spirit or fun distractions, and it was difficult for many to watch. However, the concert did raise more than $120 million for workers on the frontlines of COVID-19, and that is something worth celebrating, despite the fact that it wasn’t a telethon.
