Larenz Tate Says Jada Pinkett Smith Once Turned Down A Movie Role Out Of Respect For Tupac Shakur

Tupac and Jada Pinkett Smith were close friends all the way back to when they were kids. And even after they became stars in the entertainment business, Jada and Tupac Shakur remained close, up until he died from a drive-by shooting while in Las Vegas.

A new report from Hot New Hip Hop week suggested that Jada was actually so on board with Tupac that she made business decisions while keeping the rapper in mind. During a chat with HipHollywood, the Power star, Larenz Tate, claimed Jada rejected a job offer from the Hughes Brothers.

The Hughes Brothers offered Jada a role in Dead Presidents, but she said “no” because Tupac and the directors were feuding. Put simply, Jada chose her relationship with the legendary rapper over the film business.

Tate says he and Jada once had a chat about The Hughes Brothers and she was supposed to be in the film. Jada said to him that she wanted to star in it, but Tupac and the Hughes Brothers were fighting so she couldn’t do it.

Tate says he already knew she was offered the role of Delilah in the movie, but she turned it down. He claimed he never knew the reason why until he asked her about it. Larenz says Jada told her amid their co-starring role in Girls Trip.

She and Tupac had a “good relationship,” Tate explained, and she didn’t want to make things awkward between them because it would’ve been “weird” had she taken it. As most know, the rapper’s feud with the Hughes Brothers has been discussed plenty over the years.

Apparently, they got along so poorly that they got into a fistfight while filming Menace II Society. As most know, Jada has often been in the headlines for her relationship with Tupac Shakur, who was killed in the late 1990s.

The rapper has since gone on to legendary status in the hip-hop world, and no one dares to question his legacy, as Lil’ Xan figured out when he spoke poorly on Tupac’s name.
