For weeks on the currently airing episode of Real Housewives of Dallas, Leanne Locken has mentioned her co-star’s nationality while speaking negatively about her. Fans have been calling for the network to fire the Dallas socialite and she has finally released an apology.
Kary Brittingham and Leanne are two strong personalities that constantly go head-to-head with each other in almost every episode this season. From saying that her castmate is a ‘chirpy Mexican’ to saying that she thought she was ‘all strong and Mexican’ — both viewers and co-stars have condemned Locken for her racially insensitive words.
In fact, a viewer even called in to Watch What Happens Live to ask Andy: ‘I just want to ask about you and Bravo standing behind LeeAnne’s racial slurs and Kelly Dodd’s physical violence, it’s so not cool.’
To which he responded: ‘I don’t know if it’s standing behind. We broke down the racial slurs for a very long time at the reunion so you’ll see that. We’re just airing what happened while we were shooting the show.’
He also called Locken’s comments ‘vile.’
Meanwhile, Leanne took the chance to apologize on social media.
‘I am deeply sorry to those that I have hurt or offended with some of my comments on Real Housewives of Dallas Season 4. It was never my intention to hurt anyone and I will use this as a learning experience to be more aware of my comments in the future. My commitment to moving forward is to continue my work fighting for quality and acceptance of all humans.’
Fans are definitely not buying it. Between the wording of her apology and the time she took to release it — it’s hard to believe that the RHOD star is actually sorry.
The reunion was recently filmed and it will be interesting to see how the conversation was handled.
