You may recall that Empire creator Lee Daniels was one of the very first people who spoke out publicly in order to support Jussie Smollett. This was immediately after the latter claimed that he had been the victim of a hate crime in Chicago during January.
The Shade Room reported that Lee posted a passionate message on his social media account when he first learned of the incident.
He talked about his relationship with Jussie ‘as a father-son type and stood by Jussie after #Chicago police accused him of staging the attack in order to get paid more money on “Empire,”‘ TSR posted.
But now it seems that things have changed and Lee recently opened up about the scandal in an interview with Vulture.
He claimed that he was ‘beyond embarrassed’ about the situation.

According to TSR who cited from Vulture, Lee said that ‘I think that when it happened, I had a flash of me running from bullies. I had a flash of my whole life, of my childhood, my youth…’
All kinds of opinions popped in the comments section of TSR.
Someone said, ‘This isn’t about you, Lee. I still think he had something to do with this fiasco honestly.’
Another follower posted, ‘It’s crazy because it’s no evidence that shows that he lied about anything.’
Someone wrote, ‘I’m still standing with bro. I need to know wtf happen before I say he lied. He was assaulted. That’s all we know.’
A commenter reacted to Lee feeling ashamed and said: ‘I wouldn’t be. I know when I love and trust my friends…and know their character, I don’t typically question their truths. ❤️’
Other than this, according to Page Six, Jussie Smollett will not be coming back to the United States television show, created by Lee Daniels called Empire.
