Liam Neeson Insists He's Not Racist Following His Comments On Old Racist Thoughts

According to a report from Variety.com, Liam Neeson acknowledged his poor choice of words regarding recent remarks he made during an interview with the British newspaper, The Independent. Explained in another way, Liam clarified what he was trying to say and the point that needed to be enunciated.

Yesterday, it was revealed that Liam Neeson had wanted to kill a black man when he found out someone close to him had been raped by a black person. The star admitted to patrolling the streets at night, in hopes that a black person would try and fight him so he could attack them.

When Robin Roberts asked Liam Neeson about his comments, the actor said, “I’m not racist,” and insisted that his remarks were simply taken out of context. He said it was just a “primal urge to lash out,” and a way of coping with something terrible that happened.

The actor explained that he realized what he had done was wrong, he sought out help, including talking with a priest.

Robins admitted that people were upset about the fact Neeson asked about the person’s race rather than their height, weight, or other physical attributes. Liam added that he asked about all of that, of course, but also asked about the alleged perpetrator’s ethnicity.

When asked if it would’ve had the same effect, he said, of course, it didn’t matter about the person’s race, and that he’s an intelligent man and understands the illogical nature of the discriminatory thought processes. “I was trying to show honor and stand up for my dear friend in this terrible, medieval fashion.”

The co-host admitted that the situation was insulting, especially for innocent black people. However, she commended him for coming out about those feelings, especially considering the fact that his past feelings weren’t discovered, but he actually told people about it.

This all began yesterday when Liam sat down with reporters from The Independent. Despite the protests, Neeson clearly sought out help after understanding it was wrong, which is what he hopes would-be criminals would do.
