Love him or hate him, DJ Akademiks is one of the biggest cultural commentators in the hip-hop community. But not everyone is a big fan of him, or even understands what leads him to make the type of content that he does.
According to Hot New Hip Hop, over the last week, Freddie Gibbs came for the social media personality with a number of jabs as well as a t-shirt filled with insulting remarks directed at Akademiks. A few other hip-hop stars chimed in on the debate as well, including Meek Mill.
Now, Lil Uzi Vert is now getting involved.
Lil Uzi Vert recently picked up on a post about Meek Mill from DJ Akademiks which apparently rubbed him the wrong way. Lil Uzi Vert took to his page to ask why Akademiks always felt the need to talk about other rappers in the game.
Lil Uzi Vert said that he never talks about other rappers because he has a life outside of the community. As most know, DJ Akademiks has taken aim at Lil Uzi Vert, including stories about one of his Bugatti vehicles, as well as his record sales.
As it was noted above, DJ Akademiks has been in the media headlines more than usual lately. For instance, the social media commentator and Tekashi 6ix9ine have been doing a lot of live streams together in which they’ve called out other rappers in the game, like Meek Mill.
Ironically, DJ Akademiks also got his hand on pictures and testimony from Tekashi 6ix9ine amid his federal racketeering case, but clearly, Tekashi 6ix9ine didn’t take it personally. Earlier this week, 6ix9ine and Akademiks shared one of the last posts that XXXTentacion ever sent to him amid his court battle.
XXXTentacion sent a message to 6ix9ine in which he warned him to be safe and watch his back if he went to prison. The rapper went on to argue that maybe if XXXTentacion had a private security team, he would still be living today.
In other news, Lil Uzi Vert has teased new music repeatedly over the last few months.
