Just weeks after Sara Gilbert filed the paperwork for a legal separation from wife Linda Perry, the 52-year-old singer is opening about the split. According to Perry, things have remained amicable between the former couple, and there is still “much love.”
Perry attended the 10th Anniversary CORE Gala in Los Angeles earlier this week, and she told People Magazine that all she can do after the breakup is to continue her journey. She added that “everything happens for a reason,” and she and Gilbert are now “evolving into something else.”

The former 4 Non Blondes lead singer also revealed that despite the separation, her and Gilbert’s evolvement “is much love.”
Gilbert also attended the gala, but she walked the red carpet before Perry. The Conners star filed for a legal separation from Perry on December 27th, but she listed their date of separation as August 13th. Gilbert cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for their split.
The couple share a four-year-old son named Rhodes Emilio, but in her filing, Gilbert requested no spousal support for either her or Perry. The former host of The Talk also has two children from a previous relationship – Levi Hawk, 15, and Sawyer Jane, 12.
Gilbert is currently the executive producer and star of The Conners, but she left The Talk in 2019 after nine seasons because her life was “out of balance” and she wanted to spend more time with her family. She also wanted to focus more on her acting career.

“Last season, I did The Conners and was also producing and [hosting] here. I loved it and felt totally empowered, but also, if I’m being honest about it, my life was slightly out of balance,” explained Gilbert. “I wasn’t able to spend as much time with my three kids as I’d like, or take time for myself.”
After announcing she was leaving the show in April, her final show aired in August 2019, and Perry surprised Gilbert by making an appearance with daughter Sawyer. After Gilbert’s departure, Marie Osmond took her seat as a co-host for Season 10.
Linda Perry and Sara Gilbert started dating in 2011 and tied the knot in 2014.
