According to a report from BET.com, Mr. Jussie Smollett has trusted in several of his celebrity cohorts, including Loni Love and Taraji P. Henson. Ever since it was revealed that he orchestrated a hate crime against himself in an attempt to get attention and improve his career, Jussie’s reputation and career have come under serious question.
Recently, Loni Love revealed that she is one person who Jussie has confided in. The star explained that she and Jussie had spoken to each other on the phone for an hour-and-a-half one evening.
Earlier this week while on an episode of The Real, Love revealed that she and Smollett spoke on the phone about his current legal issues involving the Chicago police as well as the city government.
Addressing would be critics, Love claims Jussie told her that he wanted her to discuss their one-on-one conversation on air with fans. “He said that I can ask any question that I wanted. I was there not to judge him. I just wanted to listen to what he had to say,” Love remarked.
Initially, Love took to her Twitter account to address what Mr. Smollett had said to her in private. Smollett wants to know how the public feels about his actions, and while Love was quite sympathetic, the rest of social media has been far more severe.
At the moment, Love explained, Mr. Smollett is going through the thick of it and he isn’t ready to speak publicly. He will when the time comes. It was previously revealed that Smollett had lied to the police regarding a hate crime from back in January of this year.
Due to the Chicago Police Department’s outrage, he was charged with 16 felony counts of disorderly conduct for filing a false police report related to the incident. The dropped charges sparked massive backlash when the prosecution announced they wouldn’t charge him with anything.
On the 27th of March, the Federal Bureau of Investigation announced they would look into the reasoning for the dropped charges. According to a report from Buzz Feed News, Donald Trump announced on Twitter that he directed officials to investigate Jussie’s case and get to the bottom of it.
As a consequence of the actor’s actions, he was dropped from the show on which he became famous, Empire. It’s unclear if he’ll ever to return to television and film.
