Lori Loughlin and Husband Mossimo Giannulli Indicted On New Charges In College Admissions Scandal, Now What?

Lori Loughlin and her husband Mossimo Giannulli have been indicted on new charges for their involvement in the college admissions scandal.

Federal prosecutors are taking their case against the actress, her fashion designer husband and 15 other people to the next level. One day after Felicity Huffman, as well as 14 other parents agreed to plead guilty for their participation in the college bribery scheme, the feds are raising their game against those who have not yet owned their guilt.

On Tuesday, the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Massachusetts brought additional charges of fraud and money laundering charges against several defendants. The 16 parents who are now faced with more charges, are already defending themselves against conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud and honest services mail and wire fraud.

“The additional crime of conspiring to launder the bribes and other payment in furtherance of the fraud by funneling them through Rick Singer’s purported charity and his for-profit corporation,” read part of the indictment by the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

These new charges add a whole other layer to the possible jail time Loughlin and Giannulli could face during the sentencing phase. Money laundering charges alone can carry up to 20-years in prison. However, since they are technically being charged with “conspiracy to money launder” the maximum and minimum time in jail could increase.

TMZ recently revealed sources close to the case had previously said all parents involved in Operation Varsity Blues were offered a plea deal. The website indicated that is still the case, despite the new money laundering charges. Should the Fuller House star and her hubby decide to take a plea now though, the requested sentencing will be different.

Although the prosecutors are still recommending some jail time, on the lower end of the sentencing range, the minimum amount has increased for Loughlin and Giannulli because of new indictment. TMZ has indicated the new time the feds want the guilty parents to spend in prison will be anywhere from four to six years, as opposed to the original two to three before the money laundry charged were added.

Lori Loughlin and Mossimo Giannulli are facing another hurdle in the case against them for their participation in the college admissions scandal. Perhaps the famous couple might want to consider a plea deal. The feds are clearly not messing around!
