According to a report from TMZ, Malik Yoba doesn’t distinguish between transgender and cisgender women at all in terms of sexual attractiveness or value as a person. In a video shared to social media showing a man making fun of another man for being attracted to trans women, Malik said in the caption that he was also attracted to transwomen.

Malik said in his Instagram post that it’s not so much about “genitalia or sex,” but about being attracted to the soul of a human being. Reportedly, a 20-year-old man recently killed himself with a self-induced drug overdose following a bad breakup.

Yoba took to his Instagram to share his thoughts on the matter. Malik said on his social media that “this video is another heartbreaking example of the homophobia.”

Moreover, the Empire star said it was the responsibility of black men to call out homophobia and transphobia wherever they see it.

Reported earlier this week by BET.com, Maurice “Reese” Willoughby, was 20-years-old when he died. Following the young man’s death on the 20th of August, there has been significant support for him and his transgender girlfriend, Faith Palmer, as well as the LGBTQ+ community.

Earlier reports indicated that Reese had killed himself on account of bullying, however, it was later revealed that he told his girlfriend, Faith, that he was going to kill her and himself, so she left the home to get away from him.

On Instagram Live, Faith said Reese killed himself through an overdose because she was leaving him. Released by the Marsha P. Johnson Institute, the organization referred to Reese as a “heavy drug user,” and once Faith said she was leaving him, she “ran away to safety.”

The institution added in their statement that now is the time to mourn the loss of life, as well as provide support to Faith in the time after he boyfriend’s death.
