Mamma Mia Co-Creator Wants Third Movie -- Amanda Seyfriend Would Love To Do The Movie But Has One Concern

Mamma Mia — here we go again and, maybe, again. The co-creator of the musical turned hit movie is giving fans hope for another movie revealing that it was originally meant to be a trilogy.

Judy Craymer, who produced the sequels recently revealed that she fully intends to be working on the third installment.

‘I was meant to have been getting on with that, in my head, during these months. But then I got hit with Covid fog. I think one day there will be another film, because there’s meant to be a trilogy, you see.’

It’s not just Craymer who is down for another film, but Amanda Seyfriend confirmed that most, if not all, of the cast are excited to come back again. She only had one concern: what ABBA songs could this be based on?

Seyfried told Collider: ‘Listen, every single person in that movie would say yes in a heartbeat because we want to hang out with each other. That’s what we talked about last time, like did we ever think that we’d end up here again on an Island in Croatia? So yeah, I wish there was a Mamma Mia 3, but I’ll tell you what – I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again and I hope I’m wrong again. I don’t think there are enough ABBA songs to make a third movie. Because we’d have to use ‘Super Trooper’ again and we’d have to use ‘Mamma Mia’ again and have to use them in a different way.’

Amanda will be pleased to know that Judy actually plans to make the next installment with four brand new ABBA songs.

As far as the screenplay getting turned into a regular play, Judy understands that the future of theatre is unknown. However, she hopes that theatre will be saved and suggests that the government assists things in getting back on track.
