Married At First Sight Alum Nick Pendergrast Reveals Severe Accident Left Him Partially Paralyzed

Married at Frist Sight alum Nick Pendergrast has revealed he was left partially paralyzed following a severe accident.

Unbeknownst to fans, Pendergrast has been fighting for his life since January. He is now opening up about the battle he has been enduring since he was involved in an on the job accident.

“I was in an unfortunate severe accident while on the job. When my girlfriend Heather Yerrid arrived to the ER, she was told they didn’t know if I was going to make it through the night. January 22nd, I was found submerged in water for hours, with severe hypothermia, multiple pelvic fractures, severely comminuted sacral fractures, Morel-Lavallee, and more,” Pendergrast began his very lengthily Instagram message.

A picture of the 34-year-old with his twins, Logan and Layla age 1 ½ accompanied the post. He continued to detail the past six months of his road to recovery, which has only just begun.

“It’s been 6 and a half months, and I finally feel like I’ve gotten a straight answer about what the future may hold. The nerve damage caused by the blunt trauma has left me partially paralyzed. The past 6 months have been lonely, depressing, scary, stressful, and difficult. Just recently, my goal has been to learn how to become independent again as a disabled individual,” read part of his message.

Pendergrast shared the emotional support of his family has helped him accept his new life, as well the struggles he still faces.

“I have the support of my family. Heather brings one child at a time to see me since she can’t yet travel with two. I am fighting every day to stay sane, motivated, and in high spirits. It’s the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do, and I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy. I have gained empathy, compassion, and gratitude through this and hope to gain more. If nothing else, I just want to be able to walk again,” his admitted.

Nick Pendergrast ended the Instagram post by revealing he waited so long to share his story with fans because of his mental state. He asked his followers for their prayers as he moves forward in his recovery journey.

Season 4 of Married at First Sight introduced Pendergrast to Sonia Granados when they met at their wedding. The two were married less than a year before he filed for divorce and moved on with Yerrid.
