It has been less than a week since Meghan Markle gave birth to baby Archie, but the first-time mom is not shirking her advocate duties while on maternity leave.
Markle championed for female education on Thursday when she made a surprise appearance at CAMFED Education Changes Everything Gala in New York. No, she did not travel across the pond days after giving birth. Instead, Markle shared a prerecorded message, where she talked about an International Women’s Day panel she participated in this past March.
“As I said on International Women’s Day, ‘A girl who is educated becomes a woman who is influential,” the Duchess of Sussex began in a clip captured by commentator Omid Scobie.

Her remarks were short and sweet but sent a powerful message. Markle has long been an advocate for women, as well as several other causes close to her heart.
The first-time mom was on the International Women’s Day panel with Annie Lennox, who is the founder of The Circle a group devoted to empowering women’s lives all over the world. It was also being honored at the gala on Thursday night.
Markle’s prerecorded message is only one of several times she has spoken out on female empowerment and education. Since marrying Prince Harry last May and becoming a member of the Royal family, the Duchess of Sussex has used her new platform to raise awareness on both of these topics.
Along with being a proud feminist, Markle is also listed as vice president of The Queen’s Commonwealth Trust. The reason the role is so important because it allows her to help guide the Trust as it focuses on partnerships with young leaders, especially females, across the Commonwealth.

Meghan Markle gave an inspirational message yesterday on the value of female education. Even though it was prerecorded, it still had a powerful impact. She may be Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor’s mother, but Markle is still fighting for the causes she loves.
Her new speech comes a day after Markle, Prince Harry, Prince William, and Kate Middleton launched a new mental health text message hotline called Shout. It is designed to ensure anyone in the United Kingdom can have access to help if he or she needs to call.
The hotline is staff with volunteers equipped to deal with any personal crisis. The fab four are all in agreement mental health is a priority issue for the country.
