Meghan McCain Admits To Fight With Her Former The View Co-Host Abby Huntsman

After Meghan McCain co-hosted The View on Wednesday with Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar,and Sunny Hostin, she headed over to the Bravo Clubhouse to hang out with Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live. And, the conservative TV host dished on the behind-the-scenes drama at The View, including the alleged fight she had with former co-host Abby Huntsman.

McCain explained that she and Huntsman have been friends for more than ten years because their parents were friends in politics and she and Huntsman worked together at Fox. McCain said that part of the reason Huntsman joined the panel on The View was because they were very good friends.

She said that they are still friends and still talk regularly while Huntsman is campaigning for her dad Jon Huntsman, who is running for governor of Utah again after serving as the US Ambassador to China, Russia, and Singapore.

McCain explained that Huntsman was “genuinely conflicted” about her dad running for office and not being with him to help. And that, says McCain, is why Huntsman left The View earlier this month.

“We did get in a fight, which is a very small fight and a friend fight,” admitted McCain. “And all friendships have ups and downs. It was sort of bizarre for me, and I think bizarre for her, to have — the fact that we got in one fight the two years that we worked together on the show, to be put under dissection in the media, to be weaponized.”

McCain called the leak story about her fight with Huntsman “cruel,” and she said it has been a rough few weeks. She called Huntsman an “amazing co-host,” and added it was lovely to have a friend on the show with her.

Still, it’s been “emotional taxing” for McCain to have her friendship with Huntsman “used this way in the media.” And, she revealed it has taken its toll on her. McCain doesn’t know who leaked the story, but she wished it would stop because she works on an intense show during intense times, and she’s just trying to do her job.

McCain said there was no truth to the rumor that she had planned to leave the show before Huntsman, and added that if she was going to resign it wouldn’t be a drawn out process and she wouldn’t be cryptic about it.

Meghan McCain also addressed the moment that Goldberg told her to stop talking on The View before they went to a commercial break. McCain said Goldberg was having a bad day, and she apologized off air. She explained that live TV can be intense and stressful, and everyone messes up.

The View airs weekday mornings on ABC, and Watch What Happens Live airs Sunday through Thursday nights on Bravo.
