The View co-host Meghan McCain is reportedly ready to leave the talk show because she can no longer handle the drama with Joy Behar. The show’s token conservative Republican can’t handle the constant confrontations with the liberal members of the panel, of which Behar is the most vocal.

Behar isn’t the show’s only liberal, though. Sunny Hostin is right there with her as they argue with McCain over numerous political issues. And, according to Radar Online, McCain feels “like a caged animal” who no longer feels comfortable sharing her views on the show.

McCain and Behar have gotten into some nasty fights, with the rest of the panel – as well as fans and producers – always taking Behar’s side. The 34-year-old daughter of the late Senator John McCain has faced some serious backlash on social media, with viewers calling her “self-righteous,” “rude,” and a “brat.”

“It’s getting to the point where it’s not worth the emotional toll every week,” says an insider, adding that McCain “will find other work” if she decides to leave the ABC talk show.

The View’s senior executive producer Hilary Estey McLoughlin says that the show is happy to have McCain as part of the panel, and they don’t want people attacking her. She also says that McCain wants to remain a part of the show, and she thinks she will come back because it’s such a great platform.

“What happens with Meghan is that because she’s so passionate about what she’s talking about, and she feels very strongly that she’s carrying this mantle for the conservative perspective, and what she wants to talk about is so important to her, I think that’s the part that’s the most draining for her,” McLoughlin said.

Another source told CNN that McCain doesn’t think it’s worth it anymore and she is “miserable.” However, a spokesperson for The View says that they expect all of the co-hosts to be back for another “epic year.”

Meghan McCain joined the show back in 2017, replacing Jedediah Bila as the panel’s conservative voice in a sea of political liberals that include Behar, Hostin, Abby Huntsman, and Whoopi Goldberg. McCain’s frequent clashes with her co-hosts often go viral, and ABC apparently enjoys the buzz that the conflict brings to the show.
