Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino, just broke through a major hurdle, despite having to go to prison quite soon. On the 22nd of December, Mr. Sorrentino took to his Instagram to reveal he has been fighting against addiction for years – albeit successfully.
According to Sorrentino, he’s celebrating “3 years of sobriety and teaming up with the discovery institute.” Mike wrote his message for fans in the caption of a photo featuring three other women in the background.
And just a day earlier, the Jersey Shore alum went to his Instagram Story to share a few personal messages regarding his fans and how he helped to inspire them to fight drug and alcohol abuse.
Mike has fought against drug addictions in the past, including a dependency on prescription medications like Xanax and Oxycodone. He once checked into rehab in March 2012 but relapsed only a few months afterward.

“2019 will be your year of advancement,” Mike shared in his Instagram Story. As it was previously reported, Mike is gearing up for his 8-month prison sentence for tax evasion.
Previously, a judge ordered Mike to surrender himself to the Bureau of Prisons on the day of or after the 15th of January, 2019. Hailing from New Jersey, Mike – who got married to Lauren Pesce in November – enjoyed a short honeymoon with her in Tuscon, Arizona, shortly before his sentencing.
A source who spoke with Us Weekly in October said Sorrentino is not worried about going to jail, and is instead, looking forward to putting things in the past where they belong. In other words, he’s ready to move on with his life.
The insider shared that he was ready to “start his life over.” The wedding, fortunately, had been a great distraction for The Situation, the source said to the entertainment news outlet.
Mike Sorrentino isn’t the only star to face legal repercussion for avoiding taxes. Another star to go to prison was Wesley Snipes, as well as the rapper, DMX, however, the latter hasn’t gone yet, and is instead, awaiting sentencing.
