Miley Cyrus Joins List Of Performers Who All Reportedly Bailed On Woodstock 50th Anniversary Festival

According to a report from Page Six, Miley Cyrus just pulled out of Woodstock 50th Anniversary festival following a long list of other performers who also did the same, including the Dead and Co, Jay-Z, and John Fogerty.

Variety reported yesterday that some of the other big names in the festival also pulled out including The Raconteurs, The Lumineers, as well as Country Joe McDonald and John Sebastian. Initially, it was slated to begin on the 16th of August and extend all the way until the 18th.

Thus far, two of the biggest acts haven’t pulled out, Imagine Dragons as well as The Killers, however, their touring schedule doesn’t include Woodstock 50 on their respective websites, so it’s not clear if they’re really performing there or not.

Sources who spoke with the publication claim the festival will continue but it’ll only be one day and it’s going be with just four or five acts. The Zombies’ representative stated they’re going to perform there, and they’re just one group who confirmed their attendance.

It’s not entirely clear why the festival hasn’t come to fruition as the organizers originally planned, but reports indicate several issues, including the loss of a production company as well as the loss of a financial partner who was paying some of the bills.

Furthermore, Woodstock 50 was hit with permit issues, losing their original site in Watkins Glen, New York, as well as Vernon, New York. They now have a hold on Merriweather Post. Previously, a source stated that Jay-Z chose to leave the festival as well.

According to Wikipedia, the original Woodstock changed the history of popular music, especially rock music forever, and it has gone down in history as one of the defining moments of the 1960s. Approximately half-a-million people attended the festival during the summer of 1969.

Some of the most iconic acts in the history of popular music were there, including Jimi Hendrix, Jefferson Airplane, The Who, Sly and The Family Stone, Janis Joplin, The Grateful Dead, and Creedence Clearwater Revival.
