Missy Elliott Says She'd Like To Remake The Biopic On The Late Singer Aaliyah

According to a report from Vibe.com, Missy Elliott was on Sway’s Universe recently following her very first MTV Vanguard Award at the VMAs on Monday night.

Speaking with the host of the talk show, the star dished on the meticulous attention to detail involved in the creation of her 2001 album, Miss E So Addictive, which came with some of her biggest songs, including ” Get Ur Freak On” and “Gossip Folks.”

On the 29th of August, Missy, the rapper turned-singer-songwriter, admitted that she initially hated the track, “Gossip Folks,” when Timbaland first showed it to her. Moreover, Missy claims “Get Ur Freak On” was created at the last minute when Timbaland was messing around on the piano.

During the same conservation, Elliott also talked about her desire to re-create the Aaliyah biopic, due to the fact her family is ready to create one with their permission. According to Missy, when her family members are finally ready to get involved, she’s sure the biopic will happen.

Aaliyah: The Princess Of R&B, first came out on Lifetime in 2014 and it received negative reviews. Her family never got involved with the project, leading the producers to rely heavily on the book written by Christopher John Farley, Aaliyah: More Than A Woman.

Zendaya Coleman initially wanted to take on the role as Aaliyah, however, she backed out on account of the fact Aaliyah’s family weren’t involved, as well as the value of the production. Missy Elliott also explained why she felt it was such a great time to receive the MTV Vanguard Award, even though many people felt it took too long.

Elliott referred to the technology of today as a crucial factor in her ability to create the best art imaginable. “I believe it’s God’s time that I’m on.” Speaking on her creative talent, the “Get Ur Freak On” rapper stated that she grew up as an only child and learned to play by herself.

Furthermore, Elliott said she never “listened to the radio,” or “watched TV” so she learned how to utilize her mind.
