It has been known by the hip-hop and black community for years that Dr. Dre‘s relationships with women have been murky at times. For instance, he allegedly smashed a woman’s head off a wall back in the 1990s while.
And these days, he’s in the headlines for the collapse of his marriage to Nicole Young, the woman to whom he was married and had kids with as well. Dr. Dre and Nicole are reportedly getting divorced over rumors of infidelity, but the real reason hasn’t been confirmed.
Hot New Hip Hop reported on comments from Moniece Slaughter this week in which she claimed that the rumors about Dr. Dre and Apryl Jones were true. She says they have been dating for a long time already, even though Dre has been married for decades.
Recently, Slaughter took to her social media to say that the producer was guilty of some of the most horrendous forms of abuse against women. Slaughter said on her IG account this weekend that she was certain Dr. Dre was a “woman beater,” even though she never wanted to believe the rumors before.
On her Instagram Live this weekend, Moniece told a story of how she talked with a few women over the phone and she came to the conclusion that Dr. Dre really was a “woman beater.”
Thus far, it’s not clear where Moniece got her information, or if she was referring to his alleged tryst with Apryl Jones, but it’s clear she doesn’t like Dre anymore if she ever did, to begin with.
As hip-hop fans know, it’s been a rough past year and a half for Dr. Dre. Originally, he and his wife, Nicole Young, split up amid the quarantine last year and began their divorce proceedings in the weeks that followed.
Then, it was reported that Dre had to go to the hospital due to a brain aneurysm. Now, the mega-producer is under fire for being a “woman-beater.” Despite his personal controversies, Dr. Dre has worked with some of the most prolific artists of all time, including Eminem, 50 Cent, Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg, and many, many others.
