Mo’Nique and Tyler Perry haven’t gotten along very well over the last decade. Hot New Hip Hop reported today that the ongoing beef between them is continuing as well. It’s not exactly uncommon for Mo’Nique to have beef; fans of the comedian know she has already feuded with people like Oprah Winfrey and Lee Daniels in the past.
According to Mo’Nique, she was never paid the money that she thought she was going to get for her role in the 2009 film, Precious, for which she won an Academy Award. In a new IG post, Mo’Nique touched on her relationship with Perry once again.
The comedian talked about her relationship with Tyler Perry in the context of a new conversation between Janet Hubert and Will Smith approximately twenty-seven years after she walked away from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. She portrayed “Aunt Viv” on the series.
According to Hot New Hip Hop, Mo’Nique praised Will for apologizing to Janet for the way he treated her over twenty years ago. Mo’Nique then suggested Tyler Perry should do the exact same thing to her because she thinks she has been wronged.
Mo’Nique applauded Will for “apologizing for what he did to Janet Hubert’s career” while he was a young man. She then went on to say that Tyler Perry – who reportedly admitted to wronging her – should do the same thing for her publicly.
The actress said she would work on Lions Gate, the studio, and Oprah Winfrey sometime in the future, but first, she and her fans have to deal with Tyler Perry.
Mo’Nique finished off her post by claiming Perry had walked away with a People’s Choice Award for his work, but he never “told the truth” about the women who helped him get to where he is today.
Fans of the comic know she has been putting Tyler Perry, Oprah, and others on blast for years now. In the recent past, Mo’Nique also filed a suit against Netflix for offering her only a few hundred thousand dollars for her special rather than millions like other comedians have received, including Amy Schumer, Chris Rock, Dave Chappelle, and more.
