Democrats may be disappointed with Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi’s recent statements on President Donald Trump and impeachment. The news is causing a lot of conversation as Democrats discuss the impact of focusing on the impeachment process and if it would be a waste of time and resources. Many Democrats are saying there are more important issues to focus on while others say it’s time to think 2020 election.

Nancy Pelosi is trying to keep Conservative and Independent voters on her side and it appears this statement might be working to her benefit.

Speaking to the Washington Post, Nancy Pelosi stated the following.

“I’m not for impeachment. This is news…I’m going to give you some news right now because I haven’t said this to any press person before. But since you asked, and I’ve been thinking about this: Impeachment is so divisive to the country that unless there’s something so compelling and overwhelming and bipartisan, I don’t think we should go down that path.”

CNN conducted a poll that showed many Democrats are not in favor of impeachment. Most on the right believe the impeachment process would be impossible as they say President Donald Trump hasn’t committed any impeachable offenses.

Though there are many Democrats and Republicans who agree with Nancy Pelosi, there is still a large segment of the population who feels that President Donald Trump has committed impeachable offenses.

Still, those who are hopeful for impeachment are reading into Nancy Pelosi’s statement that if there were credible evidence and something substantial an impeachment process could begin.

Some believe that Speaker Pelosi is simply being coy, that she is gathering all the facts and when ready the impeachment process will begin.

What do you think? Do you agree with House Speaker Pelosi? Would an impeachment help rally the Democratic party together or cause division? Would a failed impeachment of Donald Trump ultimately destroy any hopes of the Dems taking the White House in 2020? Would the GOP counter that the failed impeachment was little more than a witch hunt?
