Naya Rivera's Ex-Husband Ryan Dorsey Reunites With Their 4-Year-Old Son After Glee Actress Goes Missing During Boating Trip

Naya Rivera’s ex-husband, Ryan Dorsey, has reunited with his son – four-year-old Josey – after Rivera went missing on a boating trip in California’s Lake Piru. Cameras spotted Dorsey for the first time in Los Angeles on Thursday, July 9, with Josey, as authorities continue to search for the Glee star’s body.

In pics obtained by The Daily Mail, Dorsey wore a black tee, a black baseball cap, and sunglasses as he carried Josey to his car. Josey was seen smiling while he was in the Ray Donoavan actor’s arms, and he was wearing a white t-shirt and a black and white hat.

Ryan Dorsey was spotted out today with his son Josey, who is healthy and safe, amid the disappearance of his ex-wife #NayaRivera.

Dorsey married Rivera in July 2014, but they split a little over two years later in November 2016. The former couple finalized their divorce in June 2018.

The father and son were leaving the home of Rivera’s sister, Nickayla, when photographers snapped the pics. Around the same time, the search and recovery efforts for Rivera had resumed at Lake Piru after they were suspended due to visibility issues and safety concerns.

On Wednesday afternoon, Rivera did not return a pontoon boat that she had rented earlier in the day, and that prompted employees from the boat rental company to go looking for the 33-year-old actress and her son.

When the boat was found, Josey was on board sleeping and wearing his life jacket. But, Rivera was nowhere to be found. Her purse and wallet were on the boat, along with an adult life jacket.

“It is believed that Naya and her son were swimming in the lake near the boat and as they were getting back into the boat, her son made it into the boat and Naya went underwater and did not resurface,” the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department told Us Weekly.

Captain Eric Buschow said on Thursday that Rivera’s family is “going through a very traumatic time right now,” but noted that Josey was “in good health.” Deputy Chris Dyer added that there were “no signs of foul play,” and they believe this was a “tragic accident.”

Even though they have changed their search from a rescue to recovery mission, Dyer says the goal is to bring Rivera home to her family. However, it’s possible her body might never be found because of the terrible visibility in Lake Piru.

“In this particular lake, in that area, there’s a lot of trees and plants and such that are under the water that can cause entanglements. It makes it unsafe for the divers and it makes it a more complicated search,” a Sheriff spokesperson said.

The spokesperson added that they are using all of their assets available to search for Naya Rivera, including sonar technology. However, those responsible for managing the overall search may get to a “point in time where they’ve expelled every resource.”

Once they have searched every area and the probability of detection has been exhausted, the spokesperson says that they would “probably have to suspend the search.”
