Nene Leakes has allegedly been MIA from shooting the upcoming season of Real Housewives of Atlanta. There are conflicting reports on why and the latest is pretty interesting.
Bossip reported that Nene is actually working on a spin-off show similar to Vanderpump Rules. The series will allegedly follow her employees at Swagg Boutique while they ‘work, party, and deal with drama.’
It sounds very similar to Dash Dolls which only ran for one season so it will be a surprise if the show actually makes it to the pilot. There has been no announcement or confirmation from Nene or her reps but the rumor may not be too far-fetched since the reality star did, in fact, post a few now hiring messages to her social media for her retail store locations.
This comes after it was reported that Leakes is sitting out this first half of the season because of the incident that happened with the crew last season.
After that, it was rumored that she was MIA because she doesn’t want to film with Kenya Moore, Porsha Williams, or Cynthia Bailey.
That excuse was followed by an official statement from her rep that said Nene was simply still negotiating her contract.
An inside source told Hollywood Life that the actress was disappointed with the situation.
‘Nene is disappointed to not be filming right now but it’s really important for her to be compensated fairly. After all, she’s an OG Housewife and knows her worth and won’t settle for what doesn’t work contractually for her. She loves the show and the platform it creates, so she’s really hopeful that everything will get worked out. To hear otherwise is hurtful. It has nothing to do with anything other than business and she’s hoping to that the business side gets worked out ASAP and she can begin filming. Both sides want to make this work. Nene does not want to leave the show, but she also knows her worth and value she brings not just to Real Housewives of Atlanta, but the Housewives franchise as a whole.’
