According to a report from Movie Web, the up and coming remake to the classic cult hit, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, will start the beginning stages in production very soon. Kevin Smith has been trying to bring back his iconic characters for many years now.
The cult director has encountered some challenging times over the years, including his very serious heart attack last year that nearly killed him. These days, Kevin has a much better outlook on life, and his latest movie is finally on its way.
On his social media account, Kevin Smith claimed the Jay and Silent Bob reboot will start filming in the following week. He first posted about the film around two years ago and the director urged for his fans to continue clamoring for the movie.
Shortly before the reboot was announced, Smith reportedly was trying to get another sequel to the classic Clerks franchise. It would’ve been the third movie in the series. It went on to become a TV show but never managed to live up to expectations.
After that, Kevin decided to work again with Jason Mewes, whom with he worked in the classic Jay and Silent Bob movie. One of the reasons why it was a lot easier for him to start working with Jay and Silent Bob again is the fact he actually owns the characters.
I first posted about #JayAndSilentBobReboot on @instagram 2/9/17. It’s been 2 years and 1 week since that post, during which time I almost died. But a week from Monday, we finally start rolling on Reboot. Never give up, Kids. Even when your heart wants to. https://t.co/D2khMMx5iRpic.twitter.com/00zHJ4LVQe

He took to his social media two years ago to reveal to fans that he doesn’t actually own Clerks or Mallrats. This will be his first movie since he finished directing Yoga Hosers, starring his daughter, Harley Quinn Smith, as well as the daughter of Johnny, Lily-Rose Depp. The movie received generally negative reviews.
According to Kevin Smith, the new Jay and Silent Bob movie will actually be the “same movie” as its predecessor. The two men have to travel to Hollywood to stop a reboot of the “Bluntman and Chronic” film, a comic book series created in their name but without their permission.
