Now the former One Direction member is finally addressing the rumors, breaking his silence.

That being said, while on air on Australia’s 90.9 yesterday, the singer revealed if he’s still single and ready to mingle or if he’s really taken – by Selena!

Amid the rumors that they are more than just friends, the host was quick to ask Niall directly if there is anything romantic going on between him and the fellow singer.

‘Do I have a girlfriend? No, I don’t,’ he responded.

He went on to once again stress that he is ‘very much single, very much single’ even though he has gushed over Selena quite a few times, calling her ‘an absolute sweetheart’ on The Social, and even packing some mild, friendly PDA in public.

Of course, that just proves they are close but not that they are a couple so it’s safe to take his word and believe that the two stars’ relationship is just platonic.

Sure enough, he did acknowledge that being friends with women while in the spotlight can be difficult since there are always dating rumors for no reason other than them being of opposite genders.

‘It does not make a difference, if I’m seeing someone or they are just a friend of mine, I am going out with them in the media’s eyes. That is the most annoying part, isn’t it really? You cannot even be friends with a female,’ Niall stated.

For now ‘I’m focusing on the job but I mean, it’s not like you really ever go out of your way just to look for [love]. If it comes to you, it comes to you and if something falls in your way or you meet someone or whatever, then fair enough.’
