The mystery of why Nicolas Cage filed for annulment only four days after getting married to makeup artist Erika Koike has been solved! It turns out that the actor didn’t really want to tie the knot in the first place but he was so drunk that he did not ‘understand’ the commitment he was making.
In the annulment documents obtained by The Blast, Cage state that he did not have ‘the ability to recognize or understand the full impact of his actions.’
Cage explained that he wanted to undo his relationship status because at the time he said ‘I do’ he ‘lacked understanding’ of what was going on due to ’drinking to the point of intoxication.’
He also claimed that it was Erika’s idea to get married.
Therefore, Cage ‘reacted on impulse and without the ability to recognize or understand the full impact of his actions,’ since he was so intoxicated.
Furthermore, the actor also apparently thought their marriage would be ‘fraud’ because of the woman not disclosing ‘the full nature and extent of her relationship with another person.’
And that’s not the only thing she allegedly did not disclose!
The documents filed by the actor also explain that she also did not tell him everything about her ‘criminal history, [which] includes additional active criminal proceedings.’
It sounds like the two will not be continuing to date each other after the annulment, but at this point, nothing has been confirmed.
The actor was the one to file the papers only four days after the drunken marriage ceremony in Las Vegas.
Pictures have also surfaced, showing them fighting the night they got married as well!
Nicolas’ marriage with Erika was his fourth as well as his shortest – obviously!
