Nicole Scherzinger and the Pussycat Dolls recently reunited on UK’s X Factor ahead of their 2020 reunion tour, but the risqué performance left numerous viewers outraged. The girl group performed some of their classic hits like Buttons – along with their new single React – while dancing and writhing on stage wearing underwear, sheer bodysuits, and PVC stockings.
According to The Daily Mail, Ofcom – the UK’s communications regulator – has received hundreds of complaints after Scherzinger and the Pussycat Dolls appeared on the talent competition, which is completely unprecedented.
Back in 2016, British girl group Little Mix – a group that was created on the X Factor in 2011 – returned to the show for a special performance and social media exploded with accusations that the group was dressed “like strippers.”
However, that only resulted in 38 complaints to Ofcom, and group member Jesy Nelson told the media to “bore off” because she and her band mates “embrace every single bit of our bodies.” She added that being confident is what being a woman is all about.
The Pussycat Dolls performance has received 640 complaints at the time of writing this article, and disgust and outrage has been the reaction on social media from numerous viewers.
“Nothing like soft porn to groom the next generation of girls. Disgraceful for a family show,” wrote one viewer, while another added, “It makes me uncomfortable to see 5 grown women dancing half naked on my screen.”
A third wrote, “I’m all about wearing what you want and embracing your body but Nicole might as well have not been wearing any clothes and there is literally kids sat down with their families watching it’s not even 9pm yet.”
Because they have received so many complaints, Ofcom is considering launching an investigation.
My @MetroUK column this week is on something that is constantly a source of bewilderment for me – Ofcom complaints. Specifically, the 419 Ofcom complaints about the Pussycat Dolls on X Factor https://t.co/KORO2EAnUf

Nicole Scherzinger, Carmit Bachar, Ashley Roberts, Jessica Sutta, and Kimberly Wyatt reunited for their first performance together in nearly a decade. Melody Thornton chose not to return. When the five ladies hit the stage, fans were shocked by their lack of clothing and their sultry dance moves.
There was even a Flashdance-inspired moment where all five ladies were dancing on chairs when they were suddenly drenched in water. Scherzinger posted that moment on Instagram and wrote in the caption, “Wasn’t expecting that…were you!”
Nicole Scherzinger also revealed that their new single React will be coming out soon, and the Pussycat Dolls reunion tour will kick off in the UK in April 2020.
