On Friday, the friends and relatives of Mr. Nipsey Hussle, who died near the beginning of the month from a gunshot wound to his head and torso, paid tribute to him in a private funeral. Coincidentally, Nipsey was commemorated by his family during the same day as his fellow Los Angeles citizens.

Following an afternoon service, friends and family laid Nipsey Hussle to rest at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. According to multiple reports, the cemetery is the home of places like David Carradine, Liberace, Lucille Ball, Bette Davis, as well as Debbie Reynolds and Carrie Fisher.

One day prior, approximately 20,000 people packed the Staples Center to pay tribute to the deceased rapper, Ermias Asghedom, who was shot and killed by the alleged shooter, Eric Holder, 29. After the memorial at the Staples Center, thousands of more people lined the streets, hanging the flag of his native country – Eritrea in East Africa.

As it was previously reported, the Los Angeles Council also agreed to rename the intersection at Crenshaw Boulevard and Slauson Avenue as “Nipsey Hussle Square.” Marqueece Harris-Dawson, a personal friend of the slain rapper, came up with the idea.

Mr. Hussle’s intersection, which is about to be named after him, is also the home of his clothing store, The Marathon. He was standing outside the entrance when Eric Holder allegedly came up to him and fired shots at Nipsey and two other men.

In recent years, Hussle had purchased a small strip mall where his clothing store was located and intended to refurbish it, part of his much bigger goal of ending gang violence in the neighborhood from which he grew up. Hussle was a member of a gang, as well, when he was a much younger man.

Eric R. Holder Junior was charged with killing the rapper, however, he stood up in a court of law and pled not guilty. Reportedly, Eric and Hussle had spoken with each other on more than one occasion that day, and Eric supposedly shot him as a consequence of a “personal dispute.”

Last year, Nipsey came to prominence with his major label debut, Victory Lap, a critically acclaimed record which went on to earn a Grammy nomination for Best Rap Album at the 2019 awards. For years, Mr. Hussle sold mixtapes out of the trunk of his car before finally making it in the mainstream scene.
