No Time To Die Premiere Canceled In China Due To Coronavirus

Reported first by Deadline, No Time To Die, the upcoming James Bond movie starring Daniel Craig, was temporarily postponed due to the outbreak of the coronavirus in the nation. Reportedly, the film’s premiere was temporarily halted on account of the precariousness of China’s medical dilemma.

Deadline claims that Daniel Craig, who plays the titular character, will not go to the Beijing screening of the movie and won’t attend the publicity tour for the new movie either. At the moment, it’s not entirely clear what’s going to happen with the outbreak of the virus.

As it was previously reported, the death toll in the Chinese nation is currently sitting at 1,600 people. For that reason, the distributors and the studios chose to halt the screening of the film, due to the fear of outbreak, especially when patients may travel from one country to the other.

Fans of the film franchise know that Cary Joji Fukunaga was the director to helm the position in the new James Bond movie, in which 007 has temporarily left his role in the British secret government agency.

As the plot of the movie goes, James Bond is enjoying his time off, until an old friend of his, Felix Leiter, approaches him about leaving retirement to fight against a villain who has a dangerous new technology in his possession. Craig co-stars alongside an ensemble cast including Naomie Harris, Ben Whishaw, Ralph Fiennes, and Rami Malek, who portrays the villain.

Additionally, Christoph Waltz stars as the other Bond villain, Ernst Stavro Blofeld. The movie is scheduled for release on the 10th of April.

The James Bond film franchise has continued to be a big earner for the film studios, taking in $881 million around the globe, with $83 million of those sales coming from China. Daniel Craig, in past interviews, has revealed that the new film in the franchise would be his last.

At the moment, it’s not clear who will take his place, but some social media rumors have suggested Mr. Idris Elba would be a great choice. Others on social media have asked for a female James Bond, but the film’s producer, Barbara Broccoli, has purportedly rejected this idea.
