It’s been more than 40 years since the movie musical Grease was in theaters. But this weekend, stars John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John reunited and dressed up in their old costumes for the Meet n” Grease sing-along event at the Coral Sky Amphitheater in West Palm Beach, Florida.
Newton-John took to Instagram to post a pic of her and Travolta backstage dressed as Danny and Sandy. Travolta wore an all-black outfit with a leather jacket, and Newton-John wore the famous yellow cardigan and matching skirt with a white button-up shirt.

“First time in costume since we made the movie,” Newton-John wrote in the caption. “So excited!!”
According to People Magazine, Newton-John did change into her character’s famous satin black leggings and leather jacket at the end of the night. Just last week, a video went viral of the 71-year-old receiving the iconic leather jacket as a gift after an anonymous man bought it at auction for $243,000 to benefit the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness and Research Center in Australia.
“The odds of beating a recurring cancer using the newest emerging therapies is a thousand-fold greater than someone appearing out of the blue, buying your most famous and cherished icon, and returning it to you, which is what I’m going to do right now,” the anonymous man told Newton-John.
The Grease superfan said the jacket didn’t belong in a billionaire’s private collection so he could brag about it at the country club. Instead, he wanted the jacket to be in the hands of its rightful owner. Newton-John says she plans to display the jacket at her Cancer Center.
Newton-John founded her cancer research and wellness center back in 1992 after her first battle with the disease. She also beat cancer again in 2013, but in 2017 she revealed it was back and had metastasized and spread to her bones.

The singer and actress says that she and Travolta have remained friends throughout the years, and he has always been there for her in tough times. Travolta explained that he and Newton-John share a bond after experiencing meteoric success together.
“I’ve been through her having a child, getting divorced, losing her sister. She’s been through my getting married, having children. It’s wonderful and full of shared memories,” said the 65-year-old.
Newton-John and Travolta not only stayed for the sing-along, but they also had a Q&A session with fans after the movie. The duo is also scheduled to appear at two more Meet n’ Grease events this weekend in Tampa and Jacksonville.
