Penn Badgley first made a name for himself as Dan Humphrey in Gossip Girl, but his fame has risen to new heights for his portrayal of Joe in the popular new Netflix series, You. Although Badgley previously resisted comparisons, he has finally acknowledged that there are similarities between Joe and Dan.
“Any part of me that was resisting the Dan Humphrey comparison has stopped because I’ve come to recognize how much of this is a surreal progression of Dan Humphrey,” he explained.
Penn Badgley is so creepy!

In Gossip Girl, fans waited a long time to find out the identity of the show’s blogger, who constantly called Dan a “Lonely Boy.” When fans finally discovered that Dan was the blogger, they were left in total shock because it was difficult reconciling the two characters.
In You, Badgley plays a psycho stalker named Joe, whom many fans actually started to root for as the show progressed. In fact, some fans even begged Badgley to kidnap them in real life, to which he responded with an emphatic no.
Badgley later said that seeing so many fans fall for his character is providing him with plenty of material for next season. Given his creepy and realistic portrayal of a stalker, it will be interesting to see where Badgley takes his character next season.
According to Daily Mail, Penn Badgley’s character in You is a bookseller named Joe who stalks a young woman named Guinevere.
Ok, I think that’s enough about Joe for now. I’m glad y’all are watching, and the willingness people have to engage like this has been very rewarding to see. Thank you 🙂

After murdering her on-and-off again boyfriend, Joe gets Guinevere to fall in love with him — mostly because he knows everything about her. But after she discovers his true nature and what’s he done to win her over, he locks her up in a basement and ends up killing her as well.
The series is based on the novel of the same name by Caroline Kepnes. Netflix has officially announced that there will be another season of the hit show. Here’s to hoping fans don’t get too enchanted by Joe the second time around.
Netflix has not announced when the new season of You will start streaming.
