Pete Davidson Reveals He Once Auditioned For Adam Sandler Film "Big Daddy"

According to a report from Us Weekly, Pete Davidson took the stage alongside Adam Sandler this past weekend where the former made a surprising revelation about the beginning of his career. The stand-up comedian and SNL co-host took the stage and said that he once auditioned for Big Daddy.

The 25-year-old claims his mother took him to audition for Big Daddy back in the late 1990s. Pete joked that twenty years later, and he’s finally sharing the limelight with Mr. Sandler.

The movie featured the real-life twin-brothers, Cole and Dylan Sprouse, who portrayed Julian, or as he called himself in the movie, Frankenstein. As most know, Sandler joined the cast of Saturday Night Live as a young man, as did Pete Davidson.

In fact, Davidson started in September of 2014 when he was just 20-years-old. He was the first cast member to be on the show who was born in the 1990s. On Saturday night, Pete got to live the moment that he previously never had the chance to experience.

Sandler joked that he was fired from the set of Saturday Night Live back in 1995. Davidson said he was hoping such a thing could happen to him, and Sandler joked, “be patient, it’s coming soon.”

Near the end of the episode, Sandler brought cast members to tears in commemoration for the late Chris Farley, who passed away at the age of 33-years-old back in 1997. Chris also came to prominence on Saturday Night Live, however, he died tragically from a drug overdose.

Insiders in the Hollywood and comedy world have suggested much of Farley’s problems likely had to do with self-esteem issues, brought on by the fact he frequently made fun of himself and used his body type and weight to make others laugh.

Adam worked with Farley in big projects like Billy Madison, arguably one of Sandler’s most iconic films. The movie, like Happy Gilmour, has gone on to cult classic status. Chris also starred in Black Sheep, Tommy Boy, Beverly Hills Ninja, as well as Dirty Work, which was released posthumously.

Davidson is no stranger to mental health struggles either. This past year, the stand-up comedian revealed he was struggling with online harassment following his breakup with ex-fiancé, Ariana Grande.
