Pop Smoke's Mistaken Social Media Posts May Have Led Killers To His Location And Subsequent Death

A new report from Page Six says that Pop Smoke’s social media activity may have facilitated his undoing. Five suspects burst into the rapper’s rented home at the start of the year and murdered him in what was originally suspected as a targeted burglary.

The head of the LAPD’s Homicide Division, Captain Jonathan Tippet, claimed that the group of five, including two teenagers and 3 men, probably went to his home on the 19th of February due to location-revealing IG posts.

The police captain claimed the men and boys involved in the altercation did steal particular items, but he couldn’t reveal what was stolen. According to the LA Times, the rapper posted a few pictures by a pool near the backyard of the property.

He also snapped a photo of the LA skyline from the home’s backyard. Another photo featured a shopping bag with the house’s address.

Pop Smoke also advertised his location with a photo of him standing in front of a Range Rover with the address of the house clearly on display. Tippet said to reporters from the Associated Press that his social media posts likely led the group of suspects right to him.

Thus far, the outlet claims the 18-year-old, Keandre D. Rodgers, Corey Walker, 19, and Jaquan Murphy, 21, have been identified. The other two suspects involved in the rapper’s death are minors and their names can’t be revealed.

Jonathan Tippet claims he and the rest of the team believe it was a robbery that went south. The news comes after the rapper’s record label and estate just dropped a brand new posthumous project in the artist’s honor, executive produced by 50 Cent.

Earlier today, Quavo, the Migos member, sat down for an interview with Complex in which he expressed his regret over not having given Pop Smoke advice on where to stay and live.

Pop Smoke’s death took the industry by surprise. Artists such as 50 Cent, Nicki Minaj, and others, all commemorated his tragic and untimely death.
