Is there trouble in Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi’s marriage? Insiders say that even though the couple has denied their problems, they are on their way to a $400 million divorce.

“Portia is at her wit’s end,” an insider told Radar Online. “As much as they try to deny any problems, it’s pretty clear they’re leading separate lives.”

Cameras recently spotted De Rossi leaving a West Hollywood restaurant with tears in her eyes, and a man – presumably her brother, Michael Rogers – comforted her. Multiple sources have reported that DeGeneres recently purchased a rural California home for $27.5 million – and de Rossi just found out about the purchase.

An insider says that everyone involved in the real estate deal had to sign a nondisclosure agreement, and this might be because DeGeneres didn’t want anyone “spilling the details to Portia.” The source added that this new home is obviously “Ellen’s bachelorette pad for rebuilding her life after Portia.”

The couple has had their share of troubles in recent weeks. Insiders say that the talk show host and Arrested Development star got into a huge fight when de Rossi rejected DeGeneres’ idea of adopting a child. And, DeGeneres has been spotted several times not wearing her wedding ring.

De Rossi has reportedly been living in a newly-purchased $15 million Beverly Hills mansion, and she and her wife have been “at each other’s throats” for a while.

The insider says that DeGeneres’ purchase of a secret getaway may be something the couple can’t overcome.

Currently, de Rossi is in Rwanda with The Ellen DeGeneres Wildlife Fund for a groundbreaking of the new Ellen DeGeneres campus of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund. Last year, de Rossi surprised her wife with her own wildlife fund so they could support different wildlife conservation organizations.

The new campus will house the Karisoke Research Center, which Fossey founded in 1967 to study endangered mountain gorillas. The goal is to find real and sustainable outcomes for both the mountain gorillas – an endangered species – and the communities nearby.

“I’m in the north of the country on the edge of Volcano National Park, and it’s stunningly beautiful here,” said Portia. “Tonight I will fall asleep knowing that, in the national park just down the road, there are magnificent mountain gorillas also sleeping – the last of them in existence.”

Portia De Rossi added that both she and Ellen Degeneres were excited for the new campus so they can help the mountain gorillas live on.
