President Joe Biden has been on a non-stop mission to get the country back on track in his first 100 days in office. One of his topmost priorities is getting control of the deadly COVID-19 pandemic that has cost the nation more than 400,000 citizens. In addition the the astounding number of deaths, the economic toll that COVID-19 is having on the American economy is staggering. Under Donald Trump, there was little to none federal mandates to help lead the nation through the pandemic with the least amount of casualties as possible. President Biden aims to change that. He is beginning with a pledge of transparency that includes weekly COVID-19 briefings for the public.
Beginning on Wednesday, January 27, 2021, the White House will begin the first of multiple weekly COVID-19 briefings. It is expected that Dr. Anthony Fauci will attend these meetings as he is able to. Unlike Donald Trump who presided over the briefings and often made controversial statements that weren’t based in scientific facts, President Biden is leaving the COVID-19 briefings to the scientists. However; he has assured the public that he will remain vigilint with his updates and will himself be briefed regularly by his team of experts who are overseeing the nation’s response to the pandemic.
President Biden has made it clear that combatting Coronavirus is a priority and that things will get worse before they get better. He has warned lawmakers there is no time for complacency as the future of our nation is on the line. He has proposed a whopping $1.9 trillion rescue plan. Much like any national crisis, such as with earthquakes, floods, or hurricanes, President Biden’s strategy includes rescue and recovery. Right now, the nation is in the rescue stage where he believes we must act immediately to rescue those who are already feeling the devastating impacts from the pandemic.
Dr. Fauci and President Joe Biden are urging all citizens to wear face masks for the next 100 days. President Biden’s plan also includes a widescale vaccination schedule that has a goal of 100 million vaccinations in 100 days.
