According to a report from E Online, Prince Andrew, the Duke of York, released a statement today regarding his supposed relationship with Jeffrey Epstein. Andrew claims in his statement that he never saw Jeffrey engaging in any unlawful behavior.

The 66-year-old, Epstein, passed away in jail near the beginning of this month just a few weeks after he was indicted on charges of sex trafficking regarding underaged girls. Conspiracy theories on the internet have flourished questioning the cause of death.

According to US court documents filed several years ago, Epstein had spent time personally with the Duke of York, who is the father of Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice. He’s also the ex-husband of Sarah, who’s the Duchess of York.

Paraphrasing what Prince Andrew claimed in his statement, he barely knew Jeffrey and saw him infrequently, sometimes one or two times per year. The Prince met Epstein in 1999, and after meeting him, he stayed at several of Epstein’s residences.

Reportedly, this past week, The Daily Mail revealed a photo which showed Andrew waving to a woman in a New York City residency which happened to be owned by the late Jeffrey. According to the outlet, the picture was taken in 2010, approximately two years after the controversial figure pled guilty to solicitation of prostitution from a minor in Florida.

Epstein served a year and one month sentence in jail and also had to register as a sex offender. That very same year, Prince Andrew was spotted with Epstein once again. The prince said the encounter was a “mistake” as well as an “error of judgment.”

Four years ago in 2015, Andrew was identified in additional court documents relating to a United States civil court case against Mr. Jeffrey. A woman in the case claimed Epstein ordered her to give Prince Andrew whatever he wanted.

The Buckingham Palace released their statement around the time, stating that Prince Andrew never engaged in any sexual behavior with anyone, and the allegations were demonstrably false. As it was mentioned in passing above, Jeffrey died earlier this month from suicide by hanging in his jail-cell, ironically, while on Suicide Watch.
