Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been quietly working on their new Archewell Foundation since moving to Los Angeles three months ago. And, even though recent reports from the UK claim that their trademarks for the new charity had been rejected, an insider says that is absolutely “false.”

According to People magazine, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s trademark filings for Archewell are “live and pending.” Their insider also dished that those filings “are going through the customary and normal process.”

Harry and Meghan have been focused on developing their new organization since stepping down as senior working members of the royal family earlier this year. While adjusting to their new life in California with their one-year-old son, Archie Harrison, the couple has been trying to figure out the direction they want to go with Archewell amid such a “rapidly changing social landscape.”

But, they haven’t been doing this on their own. The source says that Harry and Meghan have turned to “incredible thought leaders” for advice on how to move forward with their organization.

“They have had the opportunity to speak with some incredible thought leaders, and those conversations have been deeply educational and helpful in identifying the work they want to with Archewell,” says the source. “They are applying all their learnings to the future of the organization.”

When Harry and Meghan dropped their Sussex Royal brand and announced the new Archewell name back in April, the couple said in a statement that the idea of “arche” came from the Greek word meaning “source of action.”

The Duke and Duchess explained that they connected to that concept for their charitable organization that they hoped to build one day. And, it also became the inspiration for their son’s name.

“To do something of meaning, to do something that matters. Archewell is a name that combines an ancient word for strength and action, and another that evokes the deep resources we each must draw upon. We look forward to launching Archewell when the time is right,” said Harry and Meghan.

Of course, a lot has changed in the past few weeks, and the insider says that this has caused Harry and Meghan to reevaluate things. The source explained that no one could have counted on “the world turning upside down.” And, in the wake of the pandemic and the George Floyd case, Harry and Meghan now want to support the COVID-19 response and Black Lives Matter.

The insider made it clear that these issues are not separate or a diversion from the values and mission that will be reflected in Archewell. They added that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are excited to see it come together, and this is what they have “always dreamed of doing together.”
