“This is a declaration of war on the family,” a source told the outlet. “Their statement was not cleared with anyone. It breaks all protocol. There is fury over how they’ve done this without any thought for the implications for the institution. The Queen is deeply upset. The Prince of Wales and Duke of Cambridge are incandescent with rage.”

The insider added that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex wanted it to be “their way or the highway.” And, they claimed that the announcement has essentially exiled Harry and Meghan from the Royal family, which is extraordinary.

Another source explained that the simple fact the family found out about the announcement by watching TV is “deeply unfair to the Queen,” and she doesn’t deserve to be treated this way. They called Meghan and Harry’s treatment of the Queen “shoddy,” and claimed that people in the family are devastated.

The insider also made it clear that the family knows and understands that Harry and Meghan desire to do something different, and they were perfectly willing to help them. But, the way they went about this has the royal family “shocked, saddened, and downright furious.”

In other words, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had been discussing their desire to take a different role in the family with Queen Elizabeth, Prince Charles, and Prince William. However, it was Harry and Meghan’s sudden public announcement that “blindsided” the Monarch and the senior members of the family.

Another source says that there is “a lot of hurt” over the announcement, and it was something that was completely avoidable.

After Harry and Meghan made their announcement, Buckingham Palace issued a short statement explaining that they were in the early stages of discussion with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, and these are “complicated” issues that would take time to sort out.
