It seems like the older of the two British princes wants to use his voice to bring awareness to mental health. While speaking out about it during a panel at Meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Prince William opened up about his personal experience as an air ambulance pilot.
The Duke started by saying that ‘I think now, there is a generation here that is finally realizing this is not normal, we should talk about it. We should get over it. We’ve got to start tackling it now so that our children and grandchildren do not have to go through this process and they can be a lot more open about [mental health].’
The father of three was then asked if there was a particular incident to mark him the most.
In response, he admitted that it is still very hard for him to open up about it.
He went on to explain that the reason why it makes him so emotional even to recall the said incident, is that it relates to his kids.

William explained that this happens to many people in the medical community – often they feel somebody else’s pain and find it almost impossible to get over it.
Instead, they continue to live with the trauma, sometimes for the rest of their lives.
‘I think if I hadn’t been doing what I was doing, I might’ve gone into my shell a bit and thought, ‘I can deal with this myself.’ Then, down the line, it manifests in a much worse situation. I know that if I hadn’t taken action, I would’ve definitely gone down a slippery slope and I would’ve been dealing with mental illness on a different level,’ the royal admitted.
