This weekend at Haughton Lee Spring, an equestrian competition was held, in which the granddaughter of Elizabeth II, Zara Tindall, took part. By the way, her husband Mike Tindall and Prince William came to support the royal person. The men showed up to the event in modest clothing and dark baseball caps to go unnoticed in public. It is worth noting that before the start of the competition, the Duke of Cambridge greeted Mike very warmly with a strong hug.
The men discussed something animatedly for several minutes, after which Prince William joked with his interlocutor. By the way, the children of Zara Tindall were also present at the event: Mia, Lina, and Lucas spent time on the rides and had fun playing with each other on the street.
Over the weekend, Prince William took over as rehearsal host for the Colonel’s Review military procession, which will take place this Thursday at the Trooping the Colour. The Duke of the Cambridge was responsible for building a regiment of Irish Guards in the square.
Trooping the color. This is a solemn ceremony for removing a banner in front of a line of soldiers. It is worth noting that the parade takes place near Buckingham Palace – along The Mall. By the way, this event is dedicated to the Queen’s birthday. Usually, British monarchs celebrate the main birthday with their families and the formal one with the whole country on the second Saturday of June. The tradition of celebrating the monarch’s birthday in summer dates to 1748. In 1748, King George II, born in November, realized that celebrating a ruler’s birthday with the whole country in such cold and rainy weather was not a good idea. So then he decided to postpone the official celebration to the summer and celebrate the calendar birthday in the family circle.
