Prince William and Kate Middleton celebrated their youngest son Prince Louis’ 2nd birthday on Thursday, April 23rd, and they marked the occasion by posting some sweet photos taken by the Duchess of Cambridge that featured the young royal having fun with arts and crafts. The couple also shared their first “Instagram vs. Reality” post on the Kensington Royal Instagram page to show that not every moment was picture perfect.
On Wednesday, William and Kate posted four adorable photos on their Instagram account. One image was of Louis’ art work, and the other three featured the young Prince wearing a blue and white gingham shirt as he showed off his hands covered in bright paint colors while smiling big for the camera.

The next day, on Louis’ 2nd birthday, the royal couple posted an “Instagram vs. Reality” pic that revealed the photo shoot was a little bit messier than they had let on the day before.
The “Instagram” pic was a perfect image that they had not yet released which featured Louis smiling as he held his paint-covered hands up to the camera. The “reality” pic showed Louis’ face covered in paint after he smeared the paint from his hands all over his cheeks.
“Instagram vs Reality,” they wrote in the caption. “Thank you for all your lovely messages on Prince Louis’ second birthday! The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to share new photographs of Prince Louis, taken by The Duchess this April.”

The pics showcased Prince Louis taking part in a popular activity in the UK during the COVID-19 lockdown. Millions of children have been making rainbow paintings to support National Health Service (NHS) workers and other essential workers who are on the frontlines of the pandemic.
Louis made his artwork – which was a rainbow hand print – during a stay-at-home art activity with his big brother, Prince George, 6, and his big sister, Princess Charlotte, 4.
Currently, Prince William and Kate Middleton are at their country estate, Anmer Hall in Norfolk, during the lockdown with their three children. The family celebrated Prince Louis’ birthday with a party at home.
