Princess Anne is one of the more low-key members of the British royal family, but she is making headlines after cameras allegedly caught her snubbing President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump at a reception for NATO leaders at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday.
When the POTUS and FLOTUS arrived at the palace, Queen Elizabeth, Prince Charles, and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall welcomed them with kind words and hand shakes. But, when the Queen apparently signaled to her daughter to come over and welcome Mr. and Mrs. Trump, Princess Anne simply shrugged and gave a little laugh instead of walking over and shaking their hands.
Queen: “Anne, get over here right this instant.”

The short video clip immediately went viral and started to trend on Twitter.
“Never expected to relate to Princess Anne, but hanging back in a doorway to avoid people is something I’ve done in many a social situation,” wrote author Samantha Shannon.
British Glamour tweeted: “Princess Anne snubbing Donald Trump has made her officially our favourite member of the Royal Family. *Shrugs*”
Even though the internet seems to be enjoying the moment, E! News points out that the three senior royals were the only ones greeting all of the attendees. And, The Time’s Valentine Low said that Princess Anne’s shrug had nothing to do with the Trumps.
The journalist says that Queen Elizabeth asked Princess Anne who was following the President and First Lady in the receiving line, and she replied, “It’s just me” with a shrug.

Other moments from the reception that are making headlines include Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau talking to UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson and French President Emmanuel Macron. When Johnson asked Macron, “Is that why you were late?” Trudeau quipped, “He was late because he takes a 40-minute press conference off the top.” Many believe Trudeau was referencing President Trump and his press conference earlier in the day.
In response to Trudeau’s alleged comment about him, Trump said Trudeau is “two-faced.” He explained that he finds Trudeau to be a nice guy, but the truth is that he called him out on the fact that he’s not paying two percent of his country’s GDP to defense, and President Trump guesses Prime Minister Trudeau isn’t happy about it.
