R. Kelly Accused Of Being Sex-Trafficking, Cult Leader — DHS, IRS, And FBI Reportedly Investigating

If you’ve followed the R. Kelly case for any length of time, you’ve probably heard the allegations against him. Accusations that he is sex trafficking young girls and even allegations that he is a cult leader permeate social media. In the Lifetime documentary Surviving R. Kelly, grief-stricken parents tried desperately to free their daughters from Kelly’s grip. One mother successfully rescued her daughter only for her to return to Kelly. Fortunately, she did go home again. Not all parents are as lucky.

According to a report by the New Yorker’s Jim DeRogatis, the Department of Homeland Security’s sex trafficking division is currently investigating Kelly. The exact details are under wraps, but there have been decades-old allegations against Kelly, witnesses who appeared on film and shared their stories, and parents who have networked together, filed police reports and begged for authorities to help rescue their daughters from what they say is the “R. Kelly Cult.”

R. Kelly is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Now that he faces 10 counts of criminal sexual abuse, a Class 2 felony in Illinois, it appears that things may change for the Grammy-winner.

The New Yorker reports that not only is DHS investigating Kelly, but his business relationships are under scrutiny too. The IRS and FBI are reportedly looking into Kelly as well as three states.

DeRogatis has covered R. Kelly for several decades and in 2017, wrote the viral Buzzfeed article, “Inside the Pied Piper of R&B’s Cult.”

After news of R. Kelly’s arrest went viral, people began thanking DeRogatis for never giving up his coverage of the allegations.

Jim DeRogatis’ coverage of the allegations that R. Kelly runs a sex cult and is brainwashing young girls are so well known that Kelly wrote a song about them.
The 19-minute song, “I Admit It” shares the following lyrics.

“What’s the definition of a cult? What’s the definition of a sex slave? Go to the dictionary, look it up. Let me know I’ll be here waiting. Say I’m abusing these women. What the (expletive)? That’s some absurd (expletive). They brainwashed, really? Kidnapped, really? Can’t eat, really? Real talk that (expletive) sounds silly.”
