According to reports from last year, the “I Believe I Can Fly” performer’s financial situation was devastating, as one of his bank accounts had even reached a negative balance after the singer supposedly used all of his remaining funds to pay his bond at the time.

However, it seems that since then, Kelly went back on track in managing his finances, as it was reported that the musician had earned $200,000 since the beginning of the year.

The 53-year-old singer recently made headlines when it became known that he filed a motion, pleading to be allowed to house arrest, instead of staying at the Chicago’s Metropolitan Correctional Center, where he is currently confined, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic crisis.

According to Kelly, his advanced age made the possibility of him catching the virus quite dangerous for him, so it would be safer if he were confined to his home.

However, the request of the controversial musician was denied, mainly because US District Judge Ann Donnelly regarded Kelly as a potential runaway from justice.

The federal judge ruled that the music legend was to remain in custody because “of the risks that he will flee or attempt to obstruct or intimidate prospective witnesses.”

The R&B mogul was put behind bars in July, last year, on numerous state and federal charges, such as multiple counts of sexual misconduct, human trafficking, racketeering, and abuse of minors.

One person had this to say about the matter: “The fact that he can still even attempt to appeal is nauseating. That money should go to the victims! Period. His lawyers, though, they must tell him he’s safer from COVID behind bars than roaming around at McDonald’s looking for prey. 😏”

Another commenter claimed: “The danger of being in prison? Lol, he should have thought about that BEFORE he started his years’ long abuse of women and children. Also…i thought he was broke? How did he get all that money?”

This social media user shared: “Robert has been a public health crisis (a public health nightmare) for 30 years. He can continue to stay in jail. We’re all safer with him in there.”
