R. Kelly's Famous Friends Have Donated Large Sums Of Money For His New Legal Defense -- His Current Lawyer Is Resisting

Even though the situation around R. Kelly seemed to be deteriorating in various ways — including financially — the legendary singer and songwriter is still pulling through, as he has the active support of various friends and contacts throughout the music/entertainment industry.

Recent reports indicate that some unknown high figures have been pooling money together, apparently in support of Kelly in his legal battle.

This will help Kelly, who is behind bars, retain Tom Mesereau, the defense attorney his friends/entourage are aiming for him to work with. Dozens of women have accused the R&B singer of abuse.

Previous reports indicated that the singer was running low on funds, which could jeopardize his case and his ability to work with Mesereau.

At this point, it does not look like there is any risk of that, as the singer should have enough funds to keep his defense going.

Kelly is currently represented by Steven Greenberg, but this will reportedly change in the near future as the artist receives more money for his legal defense.

It is not clear what the situation is like behind the scenes though, as Greenberg himself has denied rumors that he might be getting let go from the position.

At the same time, there have been clear indicators that the money was being collected, and rumors are spreading that Kelly wants to use the services of Mesereau.

So far, the musician is facing some serious charges, and it looks like he is going to need all the help he can get if he wants to get out of prison. The accusations against him have already damaged his career enough as well.

After Lifetime aired a special, called Surviving R. Kelly, Greenberg stepped out to fiercely denied the claims: “There are no underage victims. There are no sexual assault victims. There are no victims of domestic violence that they’re going to find. It just didn’t ever happen.”

He went on to say: “I’ve seen snippets of it; I’ve seen reports about it. And we know what happened and we know those things didn’t happen. The man was not operating a harem or a sex cult or holding people hostage or anything like that.”

It seems that one thing is certain, Kelly’s cases will go on for some time.
