Local police confirmed to Variety that the rapper was apprehended and charged with one count of second-degree murder as well as another count of illegal possession of stolen items. The incident occurred around 1:00 am at a convenience store in the city.

The police report says that officers arrived at the scene to find a man who had been shot several times. He was taken to the hospital where he unfortunately died.

Chris said to investigators that the act was in self-defense following a struggle over a vehicle, however, they discovered that the car was stolen from another person in Texas. Moreover, video footage the police obtained purports to show that he did not act in self-defense as he claimed.

According to NBC News, Hurricane Chris has been active in the music business for many years, including with the song, “A Bay Bay,” which made it to number 7 on the Billboard Hot 100 as well as number 3 on the rap chart. It was later given the platinum status.

Afterward, he dropped a record, 51/50 Ratchet, which went to the 24th position on the Billboard 200 as well as number 2 on the rap charts. Approximately two years later, he dropped another album, Unleashed, but it didn’t perform as well.

He had the song, “Halle Berry (She’s Fine),” which then went on to hit number 7 on the rap chart. Over the years, Hurricane Chris has continued working in the industry, including with Ty Dolla Sign, Mario, and Lil Boosie.

The last time he released a mixtape, King Cane, was in March 2017. Fans in the hip-hop community know that gun violence is no joke. Earlier this year, Pop Smoke was killed in a rental home after suspects entered his home in the middle of the night.
