Lil Wayne has gotten himself into serious trouble with the authorities in recent news. Hot New Hip Hop picked up on a statement from the rapper’s lawyer in which it was revealed that the performing artist had been caught with a gold-plated firearm in his luggage approximately one year ago, however, he’s just being charged now.
Thus far, Lil Wayne hasn’t been accused of showing it off, firing it, or using it in any other way, however, the severity of the crime lies in the rapper’s criminal history. Lil’ Wayne is a convicted felon, and felons are barred from owning a gun.
As it was previously reported, Lil’ Wayne was searched in December 2019 and the federal authorities found guns, ammo, and more illegal items. It took nearly an entire year, but Lil’ Wayne has now been charged with the crime, and from the way it looks now, he could be serving serious time.
Wayne has been slapped with 1 count of possession of a firearm, and ammunition by a convicted felon, and if he’s proven guilty, Wayne could serve many years behind bars. Hot New Hip Hop says the rapper could serve ten years.
According to the outlet, Wayne was on a plane traveling to California when they stopped in Florida. The authorities searched the plane and that’s when they found the illegal firearm.
At the time, TMZ reported that Wayne had been allowed to leave after they found all of the incriminating items. Interestingly, the federal agents have since changed their mind about Lil’ Wayne and they’re now charging him with the crime.
This is obviously a bad time for Lil’ Wayne, who has recently come under fire in the rap community for his pictures with the president of the United States of America, Donald Trump. Wayne and the president met up for a photo-op which led to the fierce condemnation of Weezy.
For instance, when the reports of Lil Wayne’s arrest first came out, 50 Cent, who is never one to shy away from making a joke at others’ expense, claimed the rapper should just call up Trump for help.
