According to a new report by CBS Chicago’s Charlie De Mar, Jussie Smollet’s management just hired Anne Kavanaugh who specializes in crisis management along with other services. Smollet has had a tough weekend with multiple reports surfacing alleging that he wasn’t the victim of a hate crime pinned on MAGA supporters, but rather the mastermind behind a plot and even paid for the rope used in the staged incident. Jussie Smollett denies that he had any part to do with the attack or that he hired two Nigerian brothers and paid them $3,500 for the attack.

The new information indicates that Jussie Smollett’s team may be aware of how bad this situation is getting and quickly. From the beginning, there were people who voiced their opinions that they found issues with the story. Some immediately responded that Chicago, Illinois was hardly “MAGA Country” and found the story suspicious on that basis alone.

That combined with the lack of video footage, no witnesses to the crime, a delay in Jussie Smollett reporting the crime and reports that Smollett wouldn’t initially hand over his phone caused many to question his story.

All the while, Smollett stood firm that the attack had happened and that he was being revictimized by people’s doubting his story.

Mixed reports have surfaced over the weekend and it appears Jussie’s team has their hands full trying to keep up with the latest updates.

Jussie Smollett is currently being represented by Todd S. Pugh and Victor P. Henderson in addition to Anne Kavanagh.

The news that Smollett’s team hired Anne Kavanagh isn’t helping Smollet’s case in the court of public opinion. Many people think it is nothing more than a PR stunt as his credibility has plummetted.

One user commented, “I think most people’s goal in life is to NOT need to hire a crisis management team!”

Anohter poster didn’t say they felt bad for Jussie, but rather their sympathy was with Kavanagh due to the serious backlash this case has proved to get.

“I feel sorry for her, this is a PR nightmare.”
