RHOC - Gina Kirschenheiter Reveals That She Hooked Up With Her Estranged Husband Before His Domestic Violence Arrest

As fans of the Real Housewives of Orange County know, star Gina Kirschenheiter filed for divorce from her husband in Matt in July of 2018, and the split remained amicable until late June of 2019 when police arrested Matt for domestic violence. Things ended up turning nasty in their divorce, and the former couple is still working out the details. But, in the latest episode of RHOC, Gina revealed that she slept with Matt just weeks before his arrest.

Since the current season of RHOC was shot in the spring, Gina and Matt’s complicated relationship had not yet taken a turn for the worse. In the most recent episode, Tamra Judge caught the exes out on a date, and Gina admitted to Emily Simpson and Braunwyn Windham-Burke that she slept with Matt that night.

“You can’t even make out with your own damn husband without being caught! We should have gotten takeout!” said Gina. “Matt wanted to go to dinner and we ended up having a really good time … We might have slept together. I kind of feel like, I’m in control of it. I think we could be good together. I just don’t know if I’ll be able to trust him.”

An insider told Us Weekly in early June – before Matt’s arrest – that after their divorce filing, Gina and Matt reconnected when she was filming Season 14 of RHOC, and fans were going to see “why they split and how they found their way back to each other.”

But, all that changed in one night when Matt showed up to Gina’s house in the middle of the night and allegedly attacked her and threatened to kill her. Police arrested him that night, and in September the Orange County district attorney charged him with two felony counts of domestic violence.

During the recent episode, Gina also revealed that she had considered getting back together with Matt because their three kids were struggling – especially her five-year-old daughter Sienna, who had regressed at school. Gina said that Sienna’s teacher told her that she wasn’t sure Sienna was where she needed to be going into Kindergarten, and that was “terrifying” to Gina, who is also the mother of seven-year-old Nicholas and four-year-old Luca.

“I do have a lot going on at home,” said Gina. “That’s part of what makes me think I should get back together with Matt, because things are slipping. It’s overwhelming and I’m just not enough for everybody. It’s really hard.”

However, after his arrest Gina realized it was time to end the marriage, and she also claimed in court documents that Matt had abused her in the past. The judge in their case signed off on the dissolution of the marriage back in August, and it will go into effect on January 1, 2020.

Gina Kirschenheiter is now dating Travis Mullen, and Matt Kirschenheiter has lost his job and is waiting for his day in court on the felony domestic violence charges.
